Betty Bailey, 87, passed away October 16, 2011 with her family by her side.
She was born in Convoy, OH, and married her childhood sweetheart Donald E. Bailey August 10, 1946. Betty was a 1946 graduate of Methodist Hospital School of Nursing, Fort Wayne, IN. She was a member and former deacon of Northminster Presbyterian Church. She retired in 1982 from Winona Memorial Hospital in Indianapolis. Betty was a member of the Order of Eastern Star. During her marriage to the wonderful man she knew from childhood, she lived in Cincinnati, Lancaster, and Pittsburgh, PA. Indianapolis became their home in 1966. The family would like to express its heartfelt gratitude for the outstanding care and compassion provided to Betty by the staff at Clare Bridge of Carmel and AseraCare Hospice as she faced Alzheimer’s disease.
Survivors include four children, Barbara (Mike) Dorsett, Deborah (Kent) Paulin, Jennifer (Steve) New, and David (Carol) Bailey; grandchildren, Dan Dorsett, Ben Paulin, Megan New, and Marissa Bailey; brother-in-law, Don Shutt; and nieces and nephews, John and Ron Shutt and Jerry, Tammy, and Cheryl Hoblet.
She was preceded in death by her husband; and grandchild, Samantha Dorsett.
Friends and family may call from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 21, 2011 at Northminster Presbyterian Church, 1660 Kessler Blvd East Dr. with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of your choice.
Harry W. Moore Funeral Care is in charge of arrangements.
